“Today, I had the pleasure of receiving the World Bank Implementation Support Mission for the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Program, together with the program implementation team from the National Treasury,” said Dr. Eng. Festus K. Ng’eno, MIEK, CBS.
As Co-Chair of the FLLoCA Program, Dr. Ng’eno emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Government of Kenya, the World Bank, development partners, county governments, and local communities in advancing climate resilience and sustainable development.
“Our shared commitment to locally led climate action is critical to ensuring that climate investments respond to the priorities of communities while strengthening resilience and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level,” he noted.
Dr. Ng’eno acknowledged the significant progress made in strengthening county climate governance and financing community-prioritized climate investments across Kenya.
“I sincerely appreciate the World Bank and all our development partners for their unwavering technical and financial support. Together, we will continue to scale up locally led climate action and accelerate Kenya’s journey towards a climate-resilient and sustainable future,” he said.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of key stakeholders to strengthening partnerships, improving climate financing, and ensuring that locally led investments deliver sustainable and meaningful benefits to communities across the country.
