“Today, I met with the Technical Assistance Mission from the DRESSEA Project, which is supported financially by the Adaptation Fund, as we advance preliminary preparations for Kenya’s hosting of the 34th Session of the OSS Executive Board,” said Dr. Eng. Festus K. Ng’eno, MIEK, CBS.
He noted that the discussions also focused on the objectives of the mission and the overall status of project implementation, including the pending concept note, budgets, procurement documentation, and implementation schedules.
The DRESSEA Project seeks to strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers and pastoralists to climate change risks, particularly drought, through appropriate early warning systems and practical drought adaptation actions across the IGAD region. Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda are the four beneficiary countries.
“Strengthening early warning systems and implementing practical drought adaptation measures is critical to protecting vulnerable communities and building resilient livelihoods in the face of increasing climate risks,” Dr. Ng’eno emphasized.
The engagement marks an important step in coordinating preparations for the upcoming OSS Executive Board session while advancing the implementation of DRESSEA interventions in Kenya and across the region.
